Word Entertainment Names Mark Cabaniss New Senior Vice President, Word Music
(Nashville, Tenn.) June 8, 2009 - Word Entertainment announces the appointment of Mark Cabaniss as Senior Vice President of Word Music. Cabaniss will report directly to Word Entertainment's President & CEO Mark Bright.

Cabaniss is a North Carolina native and 20-year veteran of the print music industry. He began his career at Brentwood Music in 1989, and went on to found and lead the Hal Leonard church music division during a 10-year tenure. In 2005, Cabaniss was tapped to lead Shawnee Press, Inc., where he increased Shawnee's sales and presence, opening new doors for the publisher by moving it to Nashville from its Pennsylvania roots.
As an ASCAP composer/arranger, Cabaniss also has over 100 choral and instrumental songs and musicals published for adults and children. He is an Angel Award-winning and Dove-nominated producer. Cabaniss' work in the music industry has led to collaborations with television icon Andy Griffith, late legendary entertainer Steve Allen, Academy Award-winning performer Shirley Jones, pop/Broadway songwriter Rupert Holmes and others.
In addition to his work in the music business, Cabaniss serves as an adjunct instructor at the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville. Cabaniss is also the founder and donor of The Helen Cole Krause Music Scholarship, given to deserving students annually who choose music as a major in college. In 2007, Cabaniss was named Mars Hill College's Outstanding Alumnus of the Year.
Cabaniss holds bachelors and masters degrees in Music Education and Communications from Mars Hill College and The University of Tennessee-Knoxville. He currently resides in Nashville.
