NICOLE C. MULLEN
EARNS GRAMMY NOD FOR HER FUNKABILLY CD
"EVERYDAY PEOPLE"

Top Ten Project Features Cameo By Funk Pioneer Bootsy Collins

Over the last decade, Nicole C. Mullen has become a superstar in the Christian pop world as a singer-songwriter. Her tunes "Redeemer", "Call on Jesus" and "On My Knees" have not only become #1 radio hits but also modern day inspirational classics. Her latest CD "Everyday People" has continued that tradition and netted a Grammy award nomination for Best Pop Contemporary Gospel album. The awards will be announced on Sunday, February 13, 2005 @ 8-11:30 PM EST at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA. The program will air live on CBS Television (check local TV listings for exact airtime).

Mullen and her songwriting husband David Mullen produced the album where Nicole collaborated with tunesmiths responsible for hits with Mariah Carey, Eric Clapton and Michael McDonald among others. Currently, the pop anthem "I Am" is racing up the Christian AC singles chart while the smooth ballad "Without You" has become Mullen's first black gospel hit and promises to make some big noise at urban ac radio in the new year. On the album, Mullen displays her unique blend of folk, R&B, pop, gospel and guitar chords that she affectionately calls funkabilly. To top it off, funk legend Bootsy Collins contributes some of his vintage pizzazz on "Message For Ya."

"The songs on this project were inspired by my fans," said Mullen. "The stories that they have shared with me have left a lasting mark on my life. These songs are about real-life issues and struggles, and the hope that Jesus brings to all of our lives." Among the everyday songs are: "Bye Bye Brianna" about a 7 year old blind girl who drowned to death, "Valorie" about domestic violence, "It's About Us" - a cool romantic tune and "Gon' Be Free" which highlights the present day plight of the Troski slaves in Ghana.

With over 1 million career record sales, six Dove Awards, a previous Grammy Award nomination and numerous #1, multi-format radio hits, Nicole C. Mullen has become one of the most respected performers in Christian music. The Gospel Music Association voted her single Redeemer as 2001's "Song of the Year".
